The ocean, along with its diverse marine life, plays a vital role in our existence. Not only does it provide us with drinking water, but it also generates half of the oxygen we breathe daily. Therefore, maintaining its cleanliness and health is essential for our survival. Regrettably, our oceans and the rivers that flow into them are contaminated with plastic debris.
Current estimates indicate that marine environments are burdened with 200 million tons of plastic, with an alarming 11 million tons added to the ocean each year. Pollution from products such as bottles, bags, straws, and discarded fishing equipment represents a global health crisis.
